There's not much that I don't love about downtown Grapevine. With plenty of eateries, tons of places to shop and see while walking around and a great performance of Beauty and the Beast, brought to us by Upright Theatre at the Palace Theater on Main St, this would be a wonderful night out with the family.
Whether your children are familiar with this Disney classic, it is certainly one they will love, and it's rated G for all audiences. Not only will the characters, costumes and atmosphere ignite their imaginations, the beauty of the vocals in this production will have them ready to sing and the precision of movement will have them ready to dance and play! They'll especially be thrilled to see a few kids their own age onstage with the grownups! Chip is absolutely adorable (played by Ava Burkhart and Lillie Mikusek.)
Two actors who should be noted for their individual and duet performance are Sascha Connor (who plays Cogsworth) and Ivan Jones (who plays Lumiere). Achieving great comedic timing between two characters is much easier said than done, but these two are hysterical together! Both actors enter and exit their scenes with energy and gusto, leaving us excited to see more of what they're cooking up. Like a true professional, Mr. Connor shifts seamlessly between Cogsworth's anxious, uptight characteristic to his know-it-all, easily flattered personality. Mr. Ivan Jones is enchanting in his interpretation of the suave-walking, smooth-talking, Lumiere. Cogsworth may think he's the mastermind behind this duo, but there is no doubt about, Lumiere has Cogsworth wrapped around his little finger, when it comes to his scheming, and Mr. Jones is a genuine expert in asserting Lumiere's craftiness.
Overall, this production is delightful! The ensemble is marvelous, the vocals are on-point, and your family is going to adore it! Performances are THIS WEEKEND ONLY, so grab your tickets!
Y'all Enjoy!
