Mocky Horror Picture Show Roasts the Original “Super Mario Bros.” Movie!
Did you ever wonder why it’s taken Nintendo 30 years to release a “Super Mario Bros.” movie? This is why.
The Mocky Horror Picture Show features three local comedians (Liz Barksdale and Albie Robles of Irving and Danny Gallagher of Dallas) who take a classic, horrible movie and make jokes at the screen in an actual movie theater. The audience also gets to yell jokes and throw things at the screen with special prompts that appear throughout the movie timed to just the right moment.
To celebrate the release of the new “Super Mario Bros. Movie,” we’re doing a live roast and riff along of the first “Super Mario Bros.” movie starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as the infamous Brooklyn plumbers who travel to another dimension that looks nothing like the Nintendo game. It’s not even close.
The show starts at 9:15 pm on Thursday, March 23 at the Texas Theatre at 231 W. Jefferson Blvd. in Oak Cliff. Tickets are available online at TheTexasTheatre.com, bit.ly/supermockybros and https://www.prekindle.com/event/63319-mocky-horror-picture-show-roasts-super-mario bros-dallas for $14 per person.
We’ve got some real cool stuff planned for this one. Everyone in the audience will get a free bag of Super Mario and Mocky Horror swag and a couple of other surprises.
