 Broadway Our Way

Presented by Uptown Player at the Kalita Humphreys Theatre

If you have never experienced Broadway Our Way, the annual fundraising benefit for Uptown Players, you do not know what you are missing.  I was a Broadway Our Way “virgin”, and I can tell you, that this show is a joyous celebration filled with spectacular singers, choreography, and love…and I loved every second of it!

Uptown Players is one of the most notable and prestigious LGBTQ+ theatre companies in the country and you can see why.  They have been in existence for over 20 years and have produced some of the most memorable performances starring local and national talent.  Set in the historic Kalita Humphreys Theatre, Uptown Players presents large scale productions that attract audiences that repeatedly fill the house.  You are sure to be wowed at any Uptown Players show you attend.
Broadway Our Way is no exception.

This year’s show takes place on a cruise ship, led by writer and director BJ Cleveland, and this stellar professional cast leads us on a journey of music from various musicals with killer choreography that will have you laughing, smiling, and crying.  The performers are accompanied by a live orchestra, led by Vonda K Bowling and Kevin Gunter, and they are outstanding.  The stage is filled with some of DFW’s finest and their voices are simply dreamy.  There are moments in the show where I was moved to tears by the sheer perfection of the performer.  There are just too many people to name individually in this production, but I can tell you that you could see and feel the passion that each person possesses both for their craft and for the Uptown Players organization.

This is their annual fundraising event, and there are several really nice raffle items and other opportunities to support this organization.  I would encourage you to consider seeing this show.  This isn’t your grandma’s Broadway show…it’s cheeky, fun and a spectacle to behold.  If you are looking for a night of the highest quality entertainment, and have a sense of humor, you MUST see this before it closes on Sunday, April 23.  Tickets are available at https://ci.ovationtix.com/35219/production/1129271.  Please go and support this theater and experience the love and joy that is Broadway Our Way!
