This weekend only, Boy on Billboard will debut at FUMCR Arts Center. Showtimes are Friday, May 12th at 7:00pm, Saturday, May 13th at 1:00pm and 6:00pm.
Director of Finance for the production, Heath Bromley provides a detailed synopsis:
Boy on Billboard is a tragically beautiful family drama about a young musician struggling with a terrifying mental illness. This musical follows James, Ellie, and the rest of the Apple family through an up close look at the effects of mental illness and the emotional, gut wrenching toll it took on James and his family. From the family room to the psych ward, these characters slowly, and surely grip your heart. You will find a piece of yourself in this very human story.
Bromley adds, "We hope to encourage audiences to have that open and honest conversation about what's truly ailing us in our lives. We hope people feel called to talk about their mental health openly and honestly, and seek the help they or a loved one needs."
