Title: The Mousetrap

Synopsis:

The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play by Agatha Christie. As news spreads of a murder in London, a group of seven strangers find themselves snowed in at a remote countryside guesthouse. When a police sergeant arrives, the guests discover – to their horror – that a killer is in their midst! One by one, the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts. A "Whodunit", the play has a twist ending, which the audience are traditionally asked not to reveal after leaving the theatre.

Theatre Coppell will be auditioning for Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” on Monday, August 21 and Tuesday, August 22 at The Wheelice Wilson, Jr. Theatre at Coppell Arts Center, Coppell, TX beginning at 7pm each day. The Mousetrap will be directed by Larry Miller.

  • British Accents Required for all roles
  • All are encouraged to audition, regardless of prior theatrical experience
  • Please prepare two (2) short contrasting monologues to be performed by memory
  • Auditions will include readings from the script (sides will be available)
  • Appointments will be given priority; walk-ins will be taken as time allows 
  • Please bring a resume and current photo (professional headshot is not required), and list of conflicts to the audition
  • NO CONFLICTS ACCEPTED DURING TECH WEEK: Sept 24, 25, 26, 28
  • NO CONFLICTS ACCEPTED DURING Performance dates: Sept 29, 30; Oct 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15
  • Callbacks (by invitation only) will be on Wednesday, August 23rd @ 7pm (if needed)

Rehearsals

  • Rehearsals will begin Monday, August 28th and are generally held on weeknights (Mon. Tues. Thurs. Fri.) from 7:00pm – 10:00pm, and Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm – 5:00pm
  • Detailed Rehearsal schedules will be made available upon the completion of casting
  • Rehearsals and performances will be held at the Wheelice Wilson, Jr. Theatre at Coppell Arts Center, 505 Travis St, Coppell, TX 75019

Performances

 (9 shows, 3 weekends - Friday & Saturday evenings (8PM) & Sunday matinees (2:30PM)

Roles

All roles are available.  Theatre Coppell seeks diverse performers, including but not limited to, ethnicity, race, color, country of origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, body size, marital status, adults of all ages, religion, beliefs, political affiliations, socioeconomic status, experiences, and any form of disability. 

  • Mollie Ralston: the wife of Giles Ralston, Mollie is the owner of Monkswell Manor, a Victorian era estate that has recently been converted into a guest house; British accent.
  • Giles Ralston: Mollie’s husband of one year, Giles is the co-host of Monkswell Manor; British accent.
  • Christopher Wren: A flighty, obviously neurotic young man, Chrisopher Wren is a guest at Monkswell Manor; British accent.
  • Mrs. Boyle: Stern and generally unpleasant, Mrs. Boyle is a guest at Monkswell Manor; British accent.
  • Major Metcalf: A typical retired British military officer, Major Metcalf is a guest at Monkswell Manor; British accent.
  • Miss Casewell: A bit masculine in her demeanor, Miss Casewell, another guest at Monkswell Manor, remains mysteriously aloof from the other guests; British accent.
  • Mr. Paravicini: An unexpected guest at Monkswell Manor, Mr. Paravicini is there only because of his car became stuck in a snowbank during a terrible blizzard; British accent.
  • Detective Sergeant Trotter: A late arriving guest at Monkswell Manor, Detective Trotter is trying to establish a relationship between any of the guests and a murder already committed at another location; British accent.
