Mocky Horror Picture Show riffs

Captain America

Texas Theatre, Oak Cliff, had a captivating evening on the night on June 29th. The Mocky Horror Picture Show comedians hosted a one-of-a-kind, special comedy routine in dishonor of Captain America! Audience members were provoked to laughter, and guilty of having some good chuckles at our beloved super hero, which was quite possibly his worst screen portrayal to date. I speak, of course, of the 1990s film version of Captain America, which, in private viewing would be excruciating painful to endure. But, the Mocky Horror crew, made up of Danny Gallagher, Albie Robles and Liz Barksdale, who are local DFW satirists, set a new pace for these terrible films through humor and side-splitting jokes, sure to make anyone laugh! The three wisecrackers perform regularly in front of a live audience to poke fun at bad movies that we love to hate.

Gallagher, Robles and Barksdale bring more than just the bad movie and some funny jokes! Your experience begins with a goody-bag at the door of silly items, whose purpose is made clear as the movie progresses. This time around, red and blue paper plates were provided for patrons to send flying across the room, every time Captain America awkwardly throws his supposed "mighty" shield, half-hazardly, and for what appears to be, no apparent reason. The goody-bag may also consist of fun novelty items, humorous stickers for you to wear on your shirt or person, and silly toys to play with during the movie.

The live audience is also encouraged to participate by shouting out silly-sayings, prompted by an on-screen pop-up message, accompanied by a count down to keep you on cue! Because, nobody wants to be the only one shouting at the wrong time. But, should this happen to you, know that you're in good company!

Mocky Horror Picture Show is the MOST FUN you can have at a bad movie! The Texas Theatre of Oak Cliff is set to host Mocky Horror's next target-- Mac and Me on August 31st. Be sure to snag your ticket  at thetexastheatre.com!
