The creative version of Men On Boats at the Allen Contemporary Theatre is visually enjoyable. The imaginative retelling of the Powell expedition exploring the Colorado River in 1869 is funny, poignant, fascinating, and a (pun intended) Grand experience.

Flowing at the Allen Contemporary Theatre Friday and Saturdays at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm until February 8- this production is a choreography of rapids and canyon walls and capsizing and losing rations and personalities and perils and humor... The all female cast represents an interpretation refuting the misogyny and male society oriented telling of history. Dahlia Parks as William Dunn is a dominating stage presence. The impish Harper Caroline Lee bubbles and bounces with her Bradley. How Kathleen Vaught carries off the one-armed-military-veteran Major Powell is a physical novelty to behold.

You will see and feel the clever use the four crafts challenging the unknown Colorado River responsible for the majestic creation of the Grand Canyon.... It is a willing suspension of disbelief feast for the eyes. To get yourself over this ultra icy weather try exploring the Colorado River with Men On Boats all female cast at the Allen Contemporary Theatre. It is just what the doctor ordered.
