At MainStage 222 in Irving, Producer Jon Womack presents a new work by Caren Spain in its black box theatre space and invites us into a world where aliens clash with wine moms in So That’s What the Moms Were Doing.

What starts out as a typical Friday night mom hangout in a suburban home turns into a full-on alien invasion as a group of four neighborhood women share feelings on laying down sod, drinking wine out of non-traditional vessels, marital infidelity, and helicopter parenting among other topics, while slowly realizing their kids are fighting alien lizard creatures just across the street. This is the debut of Spain’s new work and features Bri McKay (Catherine), Cammy Lee (Anna May), Ashley Zamberlan (Kelly), and Priscilla Garcia (Birdie) as the four moms who have to find the gumption and ingenuity to save the neighborhood, the world – and the lawn! The creative team includes Alison Spain Bennett (Costumes and Props), Nicole Brown (Set Design), and Corson Sikora (Lights/Sound Design).
